Osimhen Confirmed for EPL Next Season, Ekong Says

Nigeria captain William Troost-Ekong firmly believes that Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen will be competing in the English Premier League next season, even though numerous European clubs have shown significant interest in him. PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

In an interview with TalkSport, Troost-Ekong shared his thoughts on his international teammate's potential future while talking about the forward's possibilities.

“I couldn’t see him playing there for another season, or anywhere else but the Premier League next season,” Ekong said of the 26-year-old forward currently on loan at Turkish giants Galatasaray from Napoli.

Since joining the team on loan, Osimhen has been performing remarkably well in Turkey, scoring 20 goals and contributing four assists across 22 games in the Super Lig.

Several Premier League teams have shown interest in his plays, including Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United, who were formerly connected to the Nigerian national player.

Troost-Ekong affirmed Osimhen’s desire to play in the Premier League and emphasized the forward’s strong connection with a specific English team.

"I am aware that he supports Chelsea, but I'm also informed that he has been in discussions with all the leading clubs. The decision ultimately rests with him. He would be an asset to any team," he stated.

I'm aware that Liverpool has discussed signing a new forward for next season. We'll have to wait and see.

As speculations about Osimhen’s future continue to swirl, Galatasaray is apparently planning to secure his permanence through a permanent transfer. Sources suggest that the Turkish team intends to activate the forward’s €75 million buy-out option, which marks a considerable drop from the previously mentioned €120 million price tag last year.

Even though Galatasaray wants to make the move official, Osimhen hasn't shown much clarity regarding his next steps. Following a recent scoreless match with Fenerbahce, the forward addressed reporters in the mixed zone saying, "Honestly, I'm not sure. Just a few months back, no one believed this could happen."

I never imagined I’d join such a massive club like Galatasaray. Right now, I’m living in the moment. We’ll have to wait and see what happens during the summer. But one thing is clear: I adore this club immensely, along with all its members.

Reports about the striker's future destination are contradictory, as former Roma star Roberto Pruzzo recently stated that trustworthy informants have informed him Osimhen will be moving to Juventus during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Given that Liverpool and Tottenham are anticipated to join the hunt for a forward, along with Chelsea possibly reviving their pursuit even though Osimhen turned them down previously, the Nigerian star’s prospects seem destined to become one of the most compelling transfer stories of the coming period.
