Kwahuhene Invites Investors to Boost Easter Paragliding Festival: New Push for Tourism's Economic Potential
By: Ernest Bako WUBONTO
The Paramount Chief of the Kwahu Traditional Area, Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III, is encouraging investors to take advantage of the successful Kwahu Easter Paragliding project and support ongoing activities throughout the year.
In an effort to leverage the potential of tourism—which is a defining feature of Kwahu—the Kwahumanhene has declared the availability of promising eco-tourism ventures open to entrepreneurs and investors from Ghana and abroad alike. This move aims to stimulate economic activity within the region as part of efforts toward progress and development.
In recent years, Easter celebrations in Ghana have come to be closely linked with Kwahu. However, Daasebre envisions a future where visitors can travel to Kwahu throughout the year—not only for paragliding but also to discover various attractions and experiences on top of the mountain.
"I don't think 'Kwahu ooo, Kwahu' should conclude just because the Easter celebrations have ended. Numerous Ghanaians and individuals across the continent travel to Dubai all year round for paragliding experiences. Therefore, I wonder why this activity takes place in Kwahu solely during Easter," he questioned.
Moreover, he stated: "The stunning aspects of Kwahu, excluding paragliding, can't be enjoyed just one time per year. Therefore, I'm highly focused on welcoming businesspeople as I aim to capitalize on tourism's economic potential for progress."
Daasebre highlighted his ambition to leverage the strategic position and distinct assets of Kwahu to transform the region into the nation's premier tourist hub. "My vision is for paragliding to take place in Kwahu all 365 days of the year."
Aligning with the government’s 24-hour economy initiative, Daasebre emphasized his dedication to supporting entrepreneurs and investors in every feasible manner, ensuring that 24-hour tourism and economic operations flourish within the Kwahu region.
"The Kwahu Traditional Council has introduced a fresh tourism initiative aimed at highlighting the allure of this distinctive setting. Additionally, regarding healthcare, the tranquil atmosphere, picturesque landscapes, farming practices, high-quality accommodations, and welcoming amenities render it an ideal place for maintaining public well-being," he noted.
Daasebre also known as a farming hub, guaranteed visitors an abundance of wholesome, organically grown produce from local farms and wildlife—essential for maintaining their well-being.
Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) as collaborators
The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), an organization within the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture, oversees and encourages sustainable tourism in Ghana via promotional activities, licensing, research, and the enhancement of tourist amenities and services. Its aim is to position Ghana as a premier travel destination in Western Africa.
To meet its goals, Kwahuman needs to accomplish several tasks as stated by Daasebre during an exclusive interview. He noted that his team has been working closely with the GTA to clearly define potential investments in the tourism sector. Additionally, they aim to systematically collect relevant information to attract investors and collaborators interested in long-term, eco-friendly initiatives.
I have enlisted the GTA to help promote the allure, wellness advantages, and historical landmarks in our surroundings, amongst other aspects, to an international audience. As locals from Kwahu, we've initially focused on establishing top-tier accommodations in the area, thus we seek further investments to elevate this endeavor to new heights.
“Excessive work pressure without proper breaks can gradually harm our citizens’ health and decrease efficiency; thus, we aim to become the premier destination for unwinding across the country.”
