RMD Returns to the Stage in London: International Edition (English)

After A multi-decade trek through cinema, renowned actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, widely recognized as RMD, is set to make his highly anticipated comeback to live theater this June at the Woolwich Fireworks Factory in London, UK. This marks his inaugural stage performance since 1987.

As per a communication delivered to Sunday Scoop The production showcases SUMI Group’s commitment to elevating African stories for international audiences, and RMD’s return to theater solidifies the project’s significance as a milestone.

"It raises our commitment to connect African narratives with fundamental human experiences," the statement read.

The production highlights Adenike (Idia Aisien) as she navigates the complex interplay of love, aspiration, and yearning amidst tensions with her father, Adebayo (RMD). Scenes in the preview showcase intense encounters during clandestine nighttime meetings with her spouse Kunle (Kunle Remi), contrasted with intimate family interactions. Featuring an ensemble cast including Tobi Bakre, Otunba Akin Lewis, Tomi Ojo, and Ronke Ojo, this piece reportedly merges understated set design with dynamic Lagosian vibrancy.

In the meantime, the actor had recently unveiled his Glo-backed film, Radio Voice, at a premiere in Lagos.

During that occasion, he pointed out that Globacom has established itself as the leading corporate backer of Nigeria’s film sector.
