STEM Quiz Challenge: Win N30M University Scholarships with Interswitch —Intl. Ed.
INTERSWITCH, one of Africa’s leading integrated payment and digital commerce firms, has launched the submission process for the seventh iteration of its National Science Quiz Competition.
The contest named 'InterswitchSpark' is a free event accessible to all SS2 students aged between 14 and 17 throughout Nigeria. Its purpose is to support these students in their pursuits within the domains of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
The contest stands as the cornerstone of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts in education. This year’s iteration includes a university scholarship fund totaling more than N30 million for the victors.
The top prize for the overall winner includes a N15 million tuition scholarship, disbursed annually over five years, alongside a laptop and monthly allowances. The first runner-up will be granted a N10 million educational grant, distributed yearly across three years, plus a laptop and additional presents. Meanwhile, the second runner-up will receive a N5 million scholarship valid for one year, coupled with a laptop and various gifts.
In line with FG plans, 18 new innovation centers will be set up in higher educational institutions. The NYSC Director-General aims to enhance healthcare services for corps members. Additionally, the commission has joined forces with UNIZIK’s Center for Capital Market to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs).Monetary awards will additionally be presented to participants finishing from fourth to ninth place, all 18 semifinalists, along with the educators of the first 27 competing pupils.
The vice president for Group Marketing and Communications at Interswitch, Cherry Eromosele, emphasized the company's commitment to this initiative, stating that it seeks to cultivate the continent’s future innovators and problem solvers.
As we introduce the seventh edition, our commitment remains steadfast in offering a platform that enables young individuals to chase their enthusiasm for STEM subjects and consequently play a role in advancing technology across Africa.
She mentioned that this edition, similar to previous ones, would kick off with a qualifying round to select the top 81 contestants who would then proceed to compete over a period of 13 weeks on TV to determine the finalists and ultimately identify the winners.
In a statement, Eromosele encouraged secondary schools to enroll their top 20 science students for the competition via the specified website and must complete this process by May 25, 2025.
He mentioned that the candidates should keep an eye out for updates via the organization's different social media accounts.
