URGENT: Nikkei Surges 8% as Trump Temporarily Halts Tariffs

The Nikkei stock index soared over 8 percent early Thursday after a historic surge on Wall Street overnight following U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to pause some tariffs imposed on trading partners including Japan.

During the initial 15 minutes of trade, the Nikkei 225-share average climbed by 2,644.81 points, marking an increase of 8.34%, reaching 34,358.84 from its previous value on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the more extensive Topix index jumped 185.41 points, equating to a rise of 7.89% to stand at 2,534.74.
