Grateful for Swift Rescue by Indian Army During Terror Attack: Ahmedabad Tourist Recalls Pahalgam Incident

Ahmedabad (Gujarat), India, April 29 (ANI): A visitor from Ahmedabad, Rishi Bhatt , who was going zip-lining during the recent Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, expressed his gratitude to the Indian Army who showed up within "20-25 minutes."

The terror attack in Pahalgam happened on April 22 at the frequently visited Baisaran meadow, where extremists attacked holidaymakers, resulting in the deaths of 25 individuals from various parts of India and one citizen from Nepal, with multiple people sustaining injuries.

While addressing ANI, Bhatt mentioned, "The Army took care of Pahalgam Within 20 to 25 minutes, they provided protection for all the tourists in about 18 to 20 minutes... The presence of the Army made us feel secure. I'm thankful to them. Indian Army ."

"We soon found the Indian Army Personnel were stationed ahead of us. They provided cover for all the tourists," he mentioned.

Referring to the security measures prior to the incident, he stated, "The army had deployed personnel extensively throughout the lower regions, including within the forest. However, there wasn’t an army officer stationed at the primary site. Instead, we saw members of the Jammu & Kashmir Police alongside three security guards..."

In a video captured during her zipline experience, Bhatt appears to relish the thrill, even as gunshots echo faintly off-screen. This footage has since become widely popular online.

Discussing the incident with ANI in Ahmedabad, Bhatt mentioned he harbored suspicions regarding the "Kashmiri" zipline operator who yelled 'Allahu Akbar' three times, as soon as this happened, shooting began instantly.

Nine individuals went ziplineing ahead of me, yet the operator remained silent throughout. It wasn’t until I began gliding down that he finally spoke up, just as gunshots rang out. This has raised some doubts for me regarding his intentions. According to Bhatt’s account, the man exclaimed ‘Allahu Akbar’ three times before opening fire. He appeared to be an ordinary Kashmiri individual.

Bullets began flying as I was zip-lining... It took around 20 seconds for me to understand that this was a terrorist assault...and individuals below were losing their lives," Bhatt recounted to ANI. "I witnessed 5-6 persons being gunned down.

Following this, he released himself from the zipline and escaped with his loved ones.

"I unbuckled my belt and leaped down, then grabbed my wife and child and began sprinting away. We noticed people concealing themselves in a depression where it was difficult to see them readily. We joined them in hiding," he continued.

He additionally asserted that the assailants singled out people because of who they were.

"Bhatt mentioned that he discovered two men from the families preceding ours were questioned about their faith and then executed right before his wife and son. This caused his wife and son to scream," he stated.

The terror attack in Pahalgam The incident took place on April 22 at Baisaran Meadow, where extremists specifically attacked holidaymakers, resulting in the deaths of 25 Indians hailing from various parts of the nation and one individual from Nepal. After the assault, the Centre stated that both the terrorists involved and those who orchestrated it will be met with harsh consequences.

Following the incident, the Central government has suspended the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960 pending credible and irreversible action by Pakistan to cease its backing of cross-border terrorism and shut down the integrated Attari checkpoint. Additionally, effective immediately as of April 27, the Center has invalidated all types of visas granted to Pakistani nationals, excluding long-term, diplomatic, and official visas. (ANI)
